A lo largo de los años que llevo desarrollando mi trabajo fui descubriendo que la experiencia de realizarlo y compartirlo es por donde más siento que el arte se manifiesta. Entendí que los dibujos, las pinturas, los videos, las grabaciones, las acciones, que he realizado y realizo, tienen la finalidad de generar experiencias que se impriman en las personas tanto como en mi misma. Creo que el arte tiene la responsabilidad de ampliar y cuestionar los horizontes de las creencias que nos hacen percibir el mundo en cada época. Poner en crisis las relaciones entre individuo y medio en el que actúa, cuestionar en particular los procesos de construcción colectiva y la noción ambigua de límite: mientras la realidad se jerarquiza en entidades distintas y potencialmente autónomas, la frontera es a la vez el umbral bajo el que tienen lugar las relaciones de intercambio que constituyen el motor de nuestras acciones, de las más simples y cotidianas a las dinámicas más complejas en el seno de la sociedad. Hace 23 años comprendí que esta cuestión era seria y que iba a contribuir a ella con todas mis fuerzas y capacidades. Comencé dibujando con tinta sobre papel de manera insistente y repetida, lo que me llevó a ocupar más espacio y esto hizo que le prestara cada vez más atención al espacio en sí. Así las instalaciones llegaron como consecuencia del despliegue del plano a la tridimensión. Hace un tiempo que investigo, con las instalaciones y acciones, la participación de las personas haciéndolas, cocreadoras de la experiencia, invitando a reflexionar, entre otras cosas, sobre la inevitable creación colectiva de los espacios que habitamos. Mis obras son respuestas particulares a preguntas generales: ¿Cómo se dibuja un sonido ? ¿Cómo se pinta el aire ? ¿Qué tenemos en común ? ¿Cuántas cosas pueden transformarnos ? ¿Cómo existe el pasado en el presente ? ¿Cómo creamos un mundo que nos guste ?

Actualmente y en paralelo a pintar, dibujar y pensar instalaciones, estoy desarrollando dos proyectos que surgen de mi acercamiento afectivo con la obra y vida de pintor@s argentin@s de nuestra historia. El primero es “Radio de cuadros”: un archivo sonoro, de pinturas contadas en el que elijo obras no tan conocidas o documentadas, para hacer realidad el relato: para mantener viva la posibilidad de poseer con nuestra imaginación imágenes que creamos a partir de lo que escuchamos. El segundo, deviene del anterior, y crece al formato de Ópera contemporánea. En la serie “Ópera de Cuadros” que estoy desarrollando, me motiva honrar el legado de grandes pintor@s argentin@s, recuperando el imaginario que integran sus obras, y también archivos, textos y referencias sobre sus vidas y formas de producción. Hacerlo desde un enfoque contemporáneo me permite explorar los bordes e intersecciones que el proyecto comparte con la actualidad del arte y con mis propias creencias sobre él.

Throughout the years I’ve been working, I’ve discovered that the experience of creating and sharing art is where I feel it manifests the most. My drawings, paintings, videos, recordings, and actions are all intended to generate experiences that leave a lasting impression on both myself and others. I believe that art has a responsibility to expand and challenge the beliefs that shape our perception of the world in each era. It should question the relationships between individuals and the environments they inhabit, particularly the processes of collective construction and the ambiguous notion of boundaries. While reality is hierarchical and potentially autonomous, boundaries simultaneously serve as thresholds for the exchange relationships that fuel our actions, from the simplest and everyday to the most complex dynamics within society.
I have been contributing to this issue with all my strength and abilities for the past 23 years, beginning with drawing and moving to installations and actions. Recently, my work has involved the participation of people as co-creators of the experience, inviting reflection on, among other things, the inevitable collective creation of the spaces we inhabit. My works are particular responses to general questions: How do you draw a sound? How do you paint air? What do we have in common? How many things can transform us? How does the past exist in the present? How do we create a world we like?

Currently, alongside painting, drawing, and thinking about installations, I’m working on two projects that arise from my emotional connection with the work and lives of Argentine painters in our history. The first is “Radio de cuadros”: a sound archive of paintings where I choose lesser-known or undocumented works to bring the narration to life, to keep alive the possibility of possessing images we create in our imagination from what we hear. The second project, which stems from the previous one, expands into the format of contemporary opera. In the series “Ópera de Cuadros” that I’m developing, my motivation is to honor the legacy of great Argentine painters, recovering the imagery that their works integrate, as well as archives, texts, and references about their lives and production methods. Doing so from a contemporary perspective allows me to explore the edges and intersections that the project shares with the current state of art and with my own beliefs about it.
